Auberger Announces New Chief for Greece Police Department
At a press conference held today, Greece Town Supervisor John T. Auberger and the Greece Town Board announced the selection of a new Chief of Police.
“As I indicated in late November, the selection of a new Chief of Police was the key component in our ability to move the Town and the department forward. The selection process of a new Chief of Police was centered on experience, personal integrity and a vision for the rebuilding of our department.”
Candidates for this position completed a lengthy and detailed series of examinations, an exhaustive background check and a series of interviews, culminating in the final interview conducted by all of the members of the Greece Town Board last week.
The Greece Town Board agreed unanimously to hire Todd Baxter, currently a Captain with the City of Rochester Police Department, as the new Chief of Police for our community.
“Captain Baxter was chosen from a field of very highly qualified candidates and has the credentials, experience and personal integrity to provide the leadership that the Greece Police Department deserves. He exhibits the dedication to police services that will be the cornerstone of the Greece Police Department’s rebuilding process. With this appointment the Greece Police Department is poised for its’ restructuring and rebirth. 2010 not only marks a new decade, but also a new beginning for our police department,” Auberger said.
Captain Baxter spoke to those in attendance and said he “will establish a foundation based on Character, Competence and Consistency in order to restore people’s faith in their police department. I plan to focus my energies on establishing community trust, gaining structure in the department and improving perception of our officers and the department. I am confident that under my leadership and utilizing the talents of the members of the Greece Police Department, the community and the Town, the Greece Police Department will be the most trusted, professional and trained police department in the United States.”
Captain Baxter’s appointment to Chief of Police will be effective February 8, 2010
