Public Safety includes services such as, the Sheriff's Dept., Sheriff's Road Patrol, Legal Aid Society, 911 Emergency Communications Center, Firearms Training, Police Training Program. Some services are State/Federal required such as Unified Court System, Probation/Community Corrections, Office of Emergency Preparedness, Weights and Measures, District Attorney, Public Defender, Court Security.

Special District Charge Definitions:

• Fire District: This charge is levied by taxing entities separate from the Town of Greece to pay for fire protective services. There are five districts that serve Town residents. The boards of each fire district adopt annual budgets through public hearings.
• Town Lighting: For costs associated with the maintenance of and improvements to the Town wide consolidated lighting district.
• Consolidated Water: The Town of Greece water system is maintained by Monroe County as part of a long term lease agreement.
• Sanitary Sewer: For the operation and maintenance as well as the cost of capital improvements of the Town's sanitary system.
• Town Drainage: For the operation and maintenance, and capital improvements to the Town's storm water collection system.
• Pure Water Capital: For costs associated with capital improvements to the pure waters system.
• PW O&M: For the treatment of waste at the purification plants once tranported by various sanitary sewer systems. This charge is based on your previous year's water consumption.
