Tax Office information
In addition to paying by mail or in person at the Greece Town Hall, tax payments (Town & County and School) are accepted at the Greece branches of Chase Manhattan Bank and M & T Bank. Only full and first installments by the due dates are collected by the banks. Drive-up windows and extended hours may be available, check with the individual branch.
Payment may be made by cash or check. Yes, credit cards are accepted via the Internet go to www.monroecounty.gov (on useful links menu on our homepage) then click "view/pay taxes online". We do not accept third party or postdated checks.
If a due date falls on Saturday, Sunday or a holiday, payments may be made on the following business day without additional charge or penalty.
Failure of the owner of property to receive a tax bill does not in any way affect the validity of the taxes or interest prescribed by law.
Payments received after due dates are subject to the penalties provided by law. Payments must be postmarked on or before the due dates. I recommend to taxpayers that payments mailed on the due date be hand cancelled. Payment dropped in mail boxes may be picked up the next day, therefore postmarked the next day. Postage meter postmarks are not a postmark made by the United States post office. Since interest belongs to the town, neither the collecting officer nor the town board may waive the interest.
