Unveiling of Historic Northgate Marker

Supervisor John Auberger and the members of the Greece Town Board are pleased to announce the unveiling of the new historical marker that will be placed in front of Northgate Plaza. The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, August 14 at 11:00 a.m. in front of Northgate Plaza on Dewey Avenue.

“We all have fond memories of Northgate Plaza and the importance of its history was expressed to us by many residents in the community,” said 1st Ward Councilwoman Shannon O’Keefe. “We felt it was important to preserve that history with this marker.”

Prior to being the site of Monroe County’s first suburban shopping plaza, the land was sporadically the home to Native American tribes and later was the site of an area fruit farm.

“We are very excited to be able to add this meaningful sign to the revitalized Northgate Plaza,” added 3rd Ward Councilman Andrew Conlon. “Many thanks go out to the residents that gave their time and effort to help make this project happen.”
