 “Paths to Greatness, Brevet Major General Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain” Presentation on the Civil War at the Greece Public Library!

The Greece Public Library, 2 Vince Tofany Blvd., presents “Paths to Greatness, The
Story of Civil War Brevet Major General Joshua Lawrence Chamberlin” on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.

Nita Allen, retired historian, will recreate the life of General Chamberlin, who was an American college professor from the state of Maine and volunteered during the Civil War in the Union Army. Although he had little military education, he became a highly respected and decorated Union officer reaching the rank of brigadier general. He was awarded the Medal of Honor and commanded the Union troops at the surrender ceremony at Appomattox.
