Supervisor Auberger Announces
Town Planning Board Approval of Unity Hospital Expansion Project

On February 17, 2010, the Town of Greece Planning Board granted site plan approval for an expansion project for Unity Hospital. The four year, $158 million dollar project will expand and modernize the hospital while providing for an addition of a fourth floor (approximately 140,000 square feet) to the existing hospital eventually leading to an increase to 85 new beds. The project also includes related internal road improvements, additional parking, grading, and landscaping. It is estimated that site work will begin in April 2010 with project completion slated for sometime in March 2014.

“We are so fortunate, as a community, to have Unity here in Greece.” stated Supervisor John Auberger. “Not only is Unity an important part of our local economy, it also provides services so vital to quality health care throughout the region.”

This is the largest private construction project to date in Monroe County in 2010. The project will have an estimated economic impact consisting of 300 construction jobs and ultimately adding approximately 265 jobs at completed complex.

The Greece Planning Board reviewed parking and improvements to the internal road network, landscaping, modernized site lighting, exterior appearance of the hospital building, and expansion of pond. The project will also include improvements in drainage control for our community.
