Lifesaving Award and Recognition Ceremony
To Be Held at the Greece Police Headquarters

Supervisor John T. Auberger and Chief of Police Todd K. Baxter are pleased announced that there will be a lifesaving award and recognition ceremony honoring Paramedic Salomon Valdez and EMT Sam Green for their outstanding efforts on the job.

On June 9, 2010, Paramedic Salomon Valdez and EMT Sam Green were on duty with the Greece Volunteer Ambulance when a call came in of someone experiencing chest pains. Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered off-duty Police Officer Kevin O’Keefe of the Greece Police Department displaying signs of a heart attack.

The actions Paramedic Salomon Valdez and EMT Sam Green took during the ensuing ambulance ride helped save the life of Officer O’Keefe. As Officer O’Keefe became unresponsive, Paramedic Valdez performed defibrillation and CPR, which ultimately prolonged the Police Officer’s life.

“There is no higher service the Greece Volunteer Ambulance can provide than that of Paramedic Salomon Valdez and EMT Sam Green on June 9, their actions were truly admirable” said Chief Baxter. “Without their quick response Officer O’Keefe might not be with us today,” he finished.

Chief Baxter and the Greece Police Department will present Salomon Valdez and Sam Green with the Greece Police Department’s Lifesaving Award at a ceremony on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 10:00 p.m. at the Greece Police Headquarters, 400 Island Cottage Road, Greece, NY 14612.
