In the 1970s, the Town of Greece created the Greece Environmental Board to serve as a watchdog and advisor to the Town on environmental issues. At the time of its inception, public awareness was not as keen on environmental issues as it is today, nor did federal, state or local laws regulate as many aspects of the environment as they do now.

Current regulations, policies and procedures have resulted in a more thorough and coordinated review of the environment than ever before. As a result, local boards, staffs and other agencies have assumed the Environmental Board’s watchdog function.

The Town of Greece would like to thank all past members of the Greece Environmental Board for their hard work and dedication; your efforts have helped preserve the Greece environment for future generations.
