The Town will once again hold “Spruce Up Greece”, a community clean up initiative, on Saturday, May 1, 2010. We are proud to say that “Spruce Up Greece” is now largest community clean up event that the town has ever held! We hope to continue these efforts with much success year after year.
Spruce Up Greece volunteers are asked to clean up areas throughout our town by picking up garbage, weeding, sweeping, piling brush and general clean up. Last year we collected a over 4 tons of garbage, 300 pounds of recyclables and a full load of brush.. We encourage all residents, community organizations and local businesses to get involved as this is a practical approach to unite residents and local government to work together to preserve and protect our environment.
Maven Technologies will be holding a computer and electronic equipment drop-off at the Department of Public Works from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. No appointment is necessary to drop off your items to be recycled and items need not be packaged. This event is open to the public and is free, with the exception of a $10.00 charge per TV and Microwave and a $5.00 charge per monitor. Items that will be accepted include PCs, laptops, modems, servers, Peripherals, GPS Units, Cell phones, fax machines, audio/visual equipment, cables, CD players, printers, cables, PS2s, X Boxes, DVD players, VCRs and telephones. Items that will NOT be accepted include household appliances, such as refrigerators, stoves, etc.
Also, Certified Document Destruction & Recycling, Inc. will perform document shredding services on the Town Hall Campus in the Justice Court Parking Lot between 9 a.m. - Noon. To ensure the strictest confidentiality, you may watch as your personal documents are cross-cut shredded right here onsite. Five, 1-foot boxes will be allowed per person.
We are so proud of the success of “Spruce Up Greece” and the project’s ability to bring community members together to further enhance our town by eliminating garbage, collecting recyclables, brush, help residents properly rid of their computers, electronics and personal documents. We are so proud to hold an event that brings the care and concern of our community to the forefront.
We are looking for volunteers to help. You can participate by submitting the attached form or Complete Form and Submit Request Online before April 20, 2010.
