VOLUNTEER GUIDELINES
The information that is obtained from you helps us to place you in the most appropriate volunteer role. For each volunteer activity special conditions exist and special considerations must be taken when assigning volunteers. For example, volunteers must be at least 12 years of age to work in Safety Town. Those seeking to volunteer to assist Senior Citizens around their home (yard work) must be at least 16 years of age. If you are volunteering to drive seniors at any time, you must be at least 21 years of age, have proof of your license and driving record, have proper insurance and know that the Town of Greece will only reimburse on claims exceeding your own policy's limits.
Assignment Procedure:
All requests for service must be channeled through our agency. This is to protect the volunteer from being taken advantage of or being put in the awkward position of having to say “no” and then feeling guilty. If volunteering in a one-on-one basis, it is recommended to call the person ahead of time to re-affirm the appointment. If you cannot make the appointment or attend the program for which you have volunteered, please make sure you notify the appropriate people in a timely manner.
Confidentiality:
Respect for the privacy of others is mandatory in this type of volunteer work. It is very important that this be maintained.
Communication:
It is important that there is open communication and feedback through both the volunteer and Program Coordinator.
Monthly Time Sheets:
Time sheets will be available to you to record your volunteer hours. This time should reflect your travel time as well as actual time spent with clients or in your chosen program. These time sheets are also beneficial to us in measuring the total number of hours that our volunteers contribute to our various programs.
For additional information you can call 723-2425 or if interested, complete the volunteer application and submit.
