Greece Police Department Seeking Special Police Volunteers

The Greece Police Department’s Special Police Unit is currently accepting applications from candidates interested in becoming Special Police Officers.

The Greece Special Police are New York State certified Peace Officers. Duties may include but are not limited to: traffic and crowd control during emergencies and special events, high visibility patrols during special events, and monthly patrols of town parks and schools. All training, uniforms, and mandatory equipment are provided for Special Police Officers.

If you are interested in volunteering to serve the community in a positive and rewarding way, please consider this opportunity. The Special Police Unit offers flexible schedules that can accommodate most people’s lifestyles.

Those interested in becoming a member of the Special Police Unit must satisfy the following qualifications:

  • Be at least 21 years of age,
  • Be a United States Citizen,
  • Have a high school diploma or GED,
  •  Possess a valid New York State driver’s license,
  • Must be medically and physically fit,
  • Applicants must be able to volunteer a minimum of 12 hours per month and be a resident of Monroe County

 “The Special Police Unit is a valued group of individuals that support the Police Department and the Town of Greece by providing additional manpower. We assist with Special Events needs such as traffic and crowd control which allows full time Officers to continue to respond to calls for service in the community. With a community the size of Greece, it is important that we can provide qualified individuals to assist year round as needed.” said Special Chief Michael DiCataldo.
