Today, Greece Town Supervisor Bill Reilich and the Greece Town Board held a Special Meeting at 5:30 at Greece Town Hall. The purpose of the meeting was to pass a resolution regarding ongoing issues associated with the increased water level of Lake Ontario. At the meeting, Supervisor Bill Reilich and the Greece Town Board discussed details of the resolution and voted to pass it at the Special Meeting.
The resolution outlines the challenges that Greece lakefront residents and businesses have been facing with regards to rising water levels and how the adoption of Plan 2014 by the International Joint Commission (IJC) has substantially contributed to the damage. The Greece Town Board concluded the meeting with the decision to request the County of Monroe to explore any and all possible and appropriate legal actions, including litigation, in order to prevent further damage to properties along the lakeshore and to compensate homeowners and local businesses for damage already caused.
“As Greece Town Supervisor, I am committed to continuing my efforts to advocate for lakeshore residents. Tonight’s meeting was an effort to pull together ideas and resources that will continue to assist those who live along the lakefront.” said Supervisor Bill Reilich.
