The Digital Bookmobile National Tour is making a stop at the Greece Town Hall Campus today, August 11, 2017 from 11:00AM – 5:00PM. Traveling coast to coast, the newly updated mobile exhibit provides an interactive experience for readers of all ages to explore eBooks and audiobooks available at the Greece Public Library. A high-tech update to the traditional bookmobile, visitors can learn how to borrow digital books, stop at the Gadget Gallery to explore a variety of devices, talk with eReading librarian experts and more. Tours are free and open to the community.
“I’m very excited that Greece was chosen as a stop on the digital bookmobile tour.” Said Supervisor Reilich. “Over 40,000 eBooks and audiobooks were checked out from our library during the first six months of this year – a 17% increase over the first six months of 2016. Having the digital bookmobile visit will allow even more residents to learn about this popular service.”
The 42-foot long Toterhome is equipped with broadband Internet-connected PCs, free Wi-Fi connection, touchscreen monitors, premium sound systems, and a variety of portable media players, all of which help visitors explore the Greece Public Library’s digital service. In the Gadget Gallery, readers can explore all popular devices, including iPhone®, iPad®, Android™ phones and tablets, Chromebook™ and Kindle®. Interactive learning stations encourage visitors to search the library’s digital media collection and go through the borrowing process. Beginners can get a one-on-one tutorial from technical experts.
The Digital Bookmobile is powered by OverDrive, which is the industry-leading digital reading platform to more than 36,000 libraries & schools worldwide. Residents can borrow eBooks and audiobooks anytime, anywhere by visiting https://libraryweb.overdrive.com/. If interested, library personnel will be available today to assist in creating accounts for https://libraryweb.overdrive.com/. Residents in Greece are fortunate that the Greece Public Library subscribes to a higher level subscription and therefore we have more access to eBooks than any other library in the County.
