Greece Town Supervisor Bill Reilich was joined by Greece Town Board Members Mike Barry, Brett Granville, Andrew Conlon, and Diana Christodaro for an official ceremony at the October Town Board meeting recognizing the Greece Ecumenical Food Shelf, Inc. for 40 years of service.
The Greece Ecumenical Food Shelf, Inc. is an organization that helps provide food to families in need living in the Greece and Charlotte areas. Their purpose is to acquire, warehouse and distribute donated and purchased food and household products to benefit the needy people residing in the Town of Greece and the City of Rochester, north of Ridge Road West and west of the Genesee River, including Charlotte.
This past year, the Greece Food Shelf has assisted 5,559 people. The Food Shelf is operated solely by volunteers, who generously donate their time and efforts to service. The Town of Greece is thankful to the Greece Food Shelf and all of the volunteers for the hours they dedicate to helping those in need in our community. Supervisor Reilich is pleased to announce that the Town of Greece is continuing the annual food drive this holiday season. From now until November 17th, there will be 2 bins located at Greece Town Hall: one in the atrium and one in the Service Mall area. You can drop donations in these bins, which we will give to the Greece Food Shelf. Please see below for the list of items most needed:
- Canned fruit
- Canned vegetables
- Chunky soups
- Tuna and canned meats
- Canned pasta
- Oatmeal
- Jelly (regular and sugar-free)
- Toilet paper, tissues, and paper towels
