Supervisor Bill Reilich is pleased to announce that after just one hour into our extended tax collection day that over 260 people have been processed and are on their way home. Additionally, our customer service counter is showing over 450 people on site since we opened.
“Receiver-Elect Andrew Conlon has assumed his position early and is being assisted by retired Receiver of Taxes Kathleen Taylor to oversee the operation today” said Supervisor Reilich. “I am thankful for many members of my staff that we temporarily re-assigned to the effort today to process any Greece Resident wishing to pre-pay their taxes before the close of 2017. We have set up some “temporary” processing areas in our Service Mall and the crowds are moving along swiftly”.
Residents are encouraged to print their tax bills at home from the Monroe County website if possible. However, we are more than happy to print them for you on site. Take a number upon entering the building, head to the “Marriage Office” which is serving as our printing station for residents’ bills, and then wait comfortably until your number is called. Readying your check, cash or money order prior to heading to the counter is also very helpful.
Our staff in the newly combined Clerk/Receiver of Taxes Counter is certainly being tested today and though it’s early – it has passed the test. Clerk Cheryl Rozzi has also been integral in the process and we are currently having staff cross-trained.
“I am so pleased that we are able to offer this accelerated customer service experience today” said Supervisor Reilich. “Time and time again, when there is any challenge, we see the people of Greece (both our employees and our residents) step up in busy or challenging situations and come together. I believe there is no better community spirit anywhere around and I am proud to serve as your Supervisor”.
We have also extended our hours at Greece Town Hall to accommodate the demand. We will be open until 8:00pm today.
