Supervisor Bill Reilich Announces Arbor Day Foundation Names Town of Greece Tree City USA

Greece Town Supervisor Bill Reilich was recently contacted by the President of the Arbor Day Foundation congratulating the Town of Greece on earning recognition as a 2017 Tree City USA. The Town achieved this recognition through our commitment to effective urban management and by meeting the programs four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita, and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

“I am proud to live in a town that participates in sustainability through the planting and caring of trees” said Supervisor Reilich. “The Town’s dedication to effective urban forest management is helping to provide our community with better air quality, water resources, energy use, and many other benefits. Thank you to all who help us in being a community committed to keeping our environment healthy!”

The Arbor Day Foundation is a million member nonprofit conservation and education organization with the mission to inspire people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees. The Tree City USA Program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.
