Greenlight Networks Expansion Continues: Town of Greece Next for a Gig from Greenlight

Greenlight Networks, an ultra-high-speed, broadband service provider, announced today that it is continuing to expand its fiber-optic network on the West side of Monroe County. Greenlight is now accepting orders in 50 new Greenlight Districts in the Town of Greece.

“We’re excited to begin the process of expanding our fiber optic network to Greece,” said Mark Murphy, president and CEO of Greenlight Networks. “With a population of almost 100,000 residents, there is a lot of opportunity for us to expand out fiber network and connect people with our service. We will be adding 20 or more employees this year to help keep up with the demand we have seen throughout the Greater Rochester area.”

Greenlight Networks fiber optic network offers internet speeds up to 50 times faster than the average American household is receiving. According to The Wall Street Journal, the addition of a fiber connection to a home can increase the home’s value up to 3%. A recent survey by the Fiber Broadband Association found that residents will pay about 8% more to rent an apartment with a fiber connection. In addition, the study found that a reliable broadband connection was listed as the most important amenity by residents when choosing an apartment or condo.

“I have been working with Greenlight Network President Mark Murphy and his staff and various department heads here in the Town of Greece for nearly 3 years to implement a plan to bring Greenlight Networks to Greece,” said William D. Reilich, Town Supervisor of Greece. “I listened when residents reached out asking if we could look into new and different services, and today I am excited to join Greenlight Networks in announcing that Greenlight will soon be available to Greece Residents”.

Greenlight worked with several departments within the Town of Greece during the construction planning process to help expedite expansion into Greece. “Since many easements and rights-of-way are owned by the Town of Greece, I anticipate that the process of bringing Greenlight to Greece will be a smooth one” said Supervisor Reilich.

Residents of Greece are now able to place their order through Greenlight’s website: GreenlightNetworks.com. The Greenlight Districts that reach their order goal fastest will be first for construction of Greenlight’s fiber-optic internet service. Greenlight expects to begin construction in several Greenlight Districts in Greece in the fourth quarter of 2018. The company now serves residential and small business customers in Brighton, East Rochester, Fairport, Henrietta, Irondequoit, Penfield, Pittsford, Rochester, Webster, and West Henrietta.
