Flag at Half-Staff

Today across our nation, you will see flags lowered to half-staff. On this 17th anniversary of September 11th, we remember all those who lost their lives on the day of the attack on our country. We remember the firefighters, law enforcement, EMT personnel, and all the good samaritans who stepped up during this horrific event to help their community.

I have seen the following post shared several times. I’m very moved by what is said here and I wanted to share it with you.

“On this day…17 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning tomorrow. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00am September 11, 2001. In one single moment, life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.”

The tragic events of September 11th, 2001 saw the people of our country come together and stand as one. The outpouring of love and support from communities all across our nation showed the world that we are there for each other.

To all those affected by the 9/11 attack: you will never be forgotten.
