Supervisor Bill Reilich Presents Proclamations and Medals at 12.18.18 Town Board Meeting

Greece Town Supervisor Bill Reilich was joined by Greece Town Board Members Mike Barry, Josh Jensen, Bill Murphy, and Diana Christodaro for two recognition ceremonies at last night’s Greece Town Board meeting.

“I was honored to present a proclamation and medal to Karlee Auld, who has achieved the significant status of Gold Award in the Greece Girl Scout Troop” said Supervisor Reilich. “Since taking office, Karlee is the first young woman I have had the honor of recognizing for achieving the Gold Award. Very few complete all of the requirements needed to achieve this status, as it involves a great deal of planning and effort towards a community project. Karlee received the Gold Award for her efforts towards a project to create care packages to send to troops overseas and to also educate elementary children on the jobs that soldiers perform. In order to complete the project, Karlee spent several weeks visiting a 5th grade classroom and educating the children on the different jobs that soldiers perform. The students were also involved in writing letters and donating an item for the care packages. Karlee then reached out to different community organizations for care package donations and worked with friends, relatives, and co-workers to complete the care packages. I would like to congratulate Karlee on completing this project. The Town of Greece is proud of all you have accomplished!”

“During last night’s Town Board meeting, I also had the privilege of presenting a proclamation and medal to Bailey Sykes, who recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in Troop #195” continued Supervisor Reilich. “It is an honor for me to recognize the hard working and determined young men who have shown that commitment and perseverance lead to success. In order to achieve Eagle Scout ranking, Bailey installed 3 cedar benches in the Natural Burial section of Ascension Garden Cemetery. This project took over 250 hours to complete. A Butterfly Release Event in honor of First Responders was being held the day the benches were installed, and the people in attendance were able to enjoy the benches after the event. Thank you for your dedication to a project that will be enjoyed by all who visit their loved ones at the cemetery!”
