The Town of Greece plants a tree each year in observance of Arbor Day. Again this year, Greece has been named a Tree City USA for the 22nd consecutive year. This commitment has continued because of the support of Supervisor Bill Reilich, the Greece Town Board, and the dedicated members of our Tree Council.
The Town of Greece marks Arbor Day with an annual tree planting on the Greece Town Hall Campus. The Town of Greece has been recognized by Tree City USA, which is a nationwide movement that provides the framework necessary for communities to manage and expand their public trees. Greece has been committed to remaining a Tree City USA, we have an active tree council, a community tree ordinance, as a town we spend at least $2 per capita on forestry, which culminates with our participation in celebrating Arbor Day.

In honor of Arbor Day this year, we have planted a tree near our new outdoor community walk track on the Greece Town Hall Campus. The tree that was chosen to be planted this year is the flowering crabapple tree. When it matures, it will bloom with bright pink flowers which will provide, in addition to the natural shade from its branches, a beautiful backdrop to our campus.
“We are proud to have once again been recognized as a Tree City USA Community” said Supervisor Reilich. “The Tree Council, our Greece Town Board, and I are committed to attaining this goal every year. The tree planted in the walking track area is the first of several trees we will be planting in the area to provide some shade to the many residents and their families who take advantage of the walking trail”.
