Supervisor Bill Reilich and the Greece Town Board Announce Members of the GPD Command Staff

After Supervisor Reilich and the Town Board voted to appoint new Greece Police Department Chief Mike Wood, the next order of business was putting in place a command staff at GPD. In January, Naser Zenelovic was unanimously voted to assume the rank of Deputy Chief for the Greece Police Department.  He has already been instrumental in assisting Chief Wood in fine tuning many policies and operations.

Last month, Supervisor Reilich and Chief Wood were proud to promote Lieutenant Ryan Parina to the rank of Deputy Chief.  Ryan is a lifelong Greece resident, graduating from Greece Odyssey before attending MCC. He is the 3rd generation of his family to serve in Law Enforcement. He began his career as a part-time Deputy in August 2004 with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. He left that position in February 2006 to join the Greece Police Department.

Parina has served in many units and received specialized training: Field Training Officer, School Resource Officer, Evidence Technician and Hostage (crisis) Negotiator. He also was a member of the GPD Honor Guard. He was promoted to Sergeant in January 2011 and then promoted to Lieutenant in February 2017 prior to his promotion to Deputy Chief. Ryan and his wife Nicole live in Greece with their two children.

Appearing on the next Town Board Agenda, Aaron Springer will be put forth before the board to fill the remaining Deputy Chief Position. Springer is currently working as the Senior Director, Department of Safety and Security at Rochester Regional Health (RRH). In this capacity, he oversees operational and strategic initiatives related to security operations for RRH, leads a staff of over 70 individuals, and oversees all aspects of armed and unarmed security at RRH properties. Additionally he implemented the Armed Security Program for RRH and manages an annual budget of $3.5M.

Springer also continues his law enforcement work while simultaneously serving as a part time uniformed patrol officer in the Village of Wolcott, NY and is an instructor for the National Tactical Officers Association. In this capacity he instructs SWAT Command Leadership.

From 1996- January 2020, he served in various leadership positions with the Rochester Police Department, including Lieutenant, Commander, Special Weapons and Tactics, Special Operations Section, Platoon Command and as a Sergeant of SWAT. Previous to his service with RPD, Springer served in the US Army enlisted in the Infantry (Airborne) division.

With the presumptive approval of the town board. Aaron will be rounding out the Command Staff at GPD.

“I am thankful for the work that Chief Wood has done in promoting and recruiting for the Greece Police Department Command Staff” said Supervisor Reilich. “I am extremely proud of the caliber of the individuals that are serving in this capacity and the opportunity their collective experience brings to the department. All of these individuals have impeccable character and dedication. I am never shy when it comes to sharing that I believe we have the very best department anywhere around” Reilich continued.
