Greece Town Supervisor Bill Reilich, in conjunction with Greece American Legion Post Number 468, hosted the Town of Greece Memorial Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony on Monday, May 29, 2023.
The Memorial Day Parade kicked off at 11:00am and featured such participants as Greece Post 468 Color Guard, local legion posts and veteran groups, Supervisor Bill Reilich and the Greece Town Councilmembers, scout troops, community service departments, musical bands, sports teams, and many more patriotic participants.
Following the parade was the Town of Greece Remembrance Ceremony, held at the Greece Town Campus Pavilion. During the Ceremony, Supervisor Bill Reilich and American Legion Post Number 468 Commander Dawn Teravainen gave remarks in memory of those who served our country and paid the ultimate price. Supervisor Reilich also recognized all in the crowd who have had their names engraved on the Gary Beikirch Veterans Memorial Wall this year. Conflict names were read in remembrance of those who lost their lives serving our country. Those reading conflict names were Councilman Mike Barry, Councilman Bill Murphy, Councilman Mike Bloomer, Councilwoman Diana Christodaro, Receiver of Taxes Andrew Conlon, and Town of Greece Administrative Judge Brett Granville. Vocalist Nick Novellin performed a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem Singers and Greece Post 468 Color Guard performed the Presentation of Colors and the Laying of Wreaths and Gun Salute.
“Since the dedication of our Veteran’s Memorial Wall on May 31, 1999, we have added thousands of names to the wall” said Supervisor Bill Reilich. “The Town of Greece is honored to have so many brave men and women who have fought for our freedom and our great Nation. It is my privilege to pay tribute to all Greece residents, and all of our military men and women throughout our country, who so selflessly served our nation.
