Supervisor Bill Reilich and the Greece Town Board Hold Annual Town of Greece Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration

The beloved Town of Greece Old Fashioned 4th of July Event was held Tuesday, July 4th in celebration of Independence Day. This is an annual event that the Town of Greece organizes and hosts at the Greece Town Campus. This popular event is free and open to the public.

The day kicked off at 7:00am with the Freedom Run 5k. Supervisor Reilich would like to thank all who braved the heat to participate in the 5k. Following the 5k was the Super Hero Sprint for kids.

Evening festivities picked up around 4:00pm with the opening several food trucks, including local favorites Lugia’s Ice Cream, J&S Fried Dough, Mr. Squeeze Lemonade, Kona Ice, Agatina’s, Mary’s Food, Sugary Delights, Red Osier and Cheesy Eddie’s, Chef’s Catering, Perfectly Puffed, Steve and Al’s Steakout, Snowie Shaved Ice, Melt Food Truck, Macarollin’, Wraps on Wheels, Waffles “R” Wild, and Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee. Family-friendly and children’s activities were in full swing  as kids enjoyed bounce houses and games and were treated to a free book from the Library Book Mobile “Free Books for Kids” cart!

Around 6:30pm, the first act of the night – Nik and the Nice Guys – performed. This high energy party band entertained attendees with a variety of upbeat music.  

Around 8:00pm, following introductions by Greece Town Supervisor Bill Reilich, the main act of the evening took the stage: Grand Funk Railroad! Known as “The American Band”, this high-energy five-piece group will play forty-five shows all over the USA this year and we are so happy to have them perform in our hometown as well.Grand Funk Railroad includes original founding members Don Brewer (vocals and drums, writer and singer of the multi-million selling hit, We’re an American Band) and bassist Mel Schacher, “The God of Thunder.” Joining Don and Mel are true “All Stars.” Singer Max Carl, a rock veteran from 38 Special. Lead guitarist, Bruce Kulick, best known for his 12 years with KISS and has credits with Michael Bolton, Meatloaf and Billy Squier. (KISS members Gene Simmons andPaul Stanley were influenced early on by Grand Funk.) Keyboardist Tim Cashion, affectionately called “Dr. Tim”, his credits include stints with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band.Seasoned Grand Funk lovers and contemporary rock fans discovering the group for the first time will be able to celebrate the 50th anniversary of We’re An American Band with Grand Funk Railroad.

The huge celebration ended with a bang – literally! The Town of Greece is proud to have one of the best firework displays in Monroe County, and this year did not disappoint. Supervisor Reilich would like to thank everyone who came out to enjoy Independence Day in the Town of Greece!
