Greece Town Supervisor Bill Reilich was joined by Greece Town Board Members Dave DiPonzio, Mike Bloomer, Bill Murphy, and Diana Christodaro for a proclamation ceremony recognizing two outstanding members of our Greece Team during the December 9, 2024 Meeting of the Greece Town Board.
Last month, a routine table tennis session in our gymnasium turned into a life-saving moment. At approximately 10:17 AM, one of our players experienced a sudden medical emergency—what appeared to be a heart attack. In moments like these, seconds matter, and the swift actions of two of our incredible team members, Katie Decker and Will Warner, made all the difference. Katie immediately retrieved the AED machine while Will began chest compressions. Will’s persistence during the second set of compressions brought the gentleman back to consciousness. Katie and Will stayed by his side, keeping him stable until paramedics arrived.
Our front desk team also stepped up, providing vital medical details to the first responders and contacting the individual’s family. This incident is a powerful reminder of the importance of being prepared. Every member of our recreation staff is trained in CPR and First Aid, and on this day, that training saved a life.
