Hotel may re-open upon approval after addressing fire, safety violations
Greece, NY – The Greece Town Board voted unanimously tonight to close the M6 Studio hotel in light of ongoing and serious fire and public safety concerns. Ownership of the hotel changed in March, 2026, which requires the property to pass fire and property code inspections before a Special Use Permit to operate can be issued. The hotel currently has more than a dozen open fire safety and property code violations, and has been the cause of a significant number of calls for police and emergency service response.
“The safety of hotel guests and neighborhood residents is our number one priority,” said Greece Town Supervisor Jeff McCann. “We need hotel ownership to prove that they can operate this property in a safe, clean and healthy manner.”
While Town officials have attempted to work with the owners to address the fire and life safety issues, Town Board members expressed concern that there had not been enough progress to allow the hotel to continue to operate.
“Neighborhood residents are rightly concerned about the hotel’s negative impact on their quality of life,” said Second Ward Councilman Spencer Bernard. “Neighbors should not have to contend with issues like loitering, loud music, and trash and debris emanating from the hotel on a daily basis. A hotel should not generate this level of police activity.”
Hotel owners have the opportunity to have their Special Use Permit reconsidered at the July 16 Town Board meeting, after the Board and Town administration can assess progress made toward resolving these issues.
The M6 Studio hotel, located at 600 Center Place Drive, has been ordered to cease operation as of Monday, June 29 at 9:00 a.m.
