General Information
Demolition permits are required where either interior demolition or building removal is necessary. For buildings constructed prior to 1974, New York State Code Rule 56 requires that an asbestos survey must be made by a certified laboratory and submitted to the Technical Services Department with your demolition permit application (also reference OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1926.5). Removal of materials containing asbestos must be done by a qualified licensed contractor.
