Greece Residential Improvement Program (GRIP)


Due to the popularity of the GRIP grant & limited funding associated with each program year, all new applications are being placed on a waiting list.  Additional funding will become available on August 1, 2024.  We look forward to continuing efforts to improve the quality of our neighborhoods by assisting Greece residents to make needed repairs via the GRIP grant.

What is The Greece Residential Improvement Program (GRIP)?

The Greece Residential Improvement Program (GRIP) provides a grant to income-eligible, single-family homeowners in need of interior and exterior home repairs. The Town of Greece will work with you in prioritizing which repairs your home needs most. The Federal Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) funds GRIP.

The Town of Greece and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (US HUD) have worked together to set GRIP’s eligibility requirements. Qualified homeowners may be eligible for a subsidy that could pay up to 100% of the project cost, not exceeding a maximum grant amount of $7,500. If project costs exceed the maximum grant amount, the homeowner will be responsible for paying the difference. Each home & homeowner is eligible for GRIP twice. The 2nd and final grant can be applied for after 5 years for 75% of the current grant amount.

Homeowner Eligibility (2023 – 2024)

Greece Residential Improvement Program (GRIP) grants are available for rehabilitation projects in single-family, owner-occupied homes within the Town of Greece. Community Development rehabilitation projects must be essential rehabilitation projects that address:

  • The home must be a single-family home, located within the Town of Greece
  • The home must be owner-occupied
    • Trusts & Life Estates will require additional documentation
  • The Homeowner(s) must not own any additional properties in Monroe County.
  • The current assessed value of the home cannot exceed $174,000.
  • The Homeowner(s) mortgage, taxes, and homeowners insurance must be paid current.
  • The Homeowner(s) has/have owned & resided in the home for 1 complete year (date on the deed).
    • Exceptions may apply for first-time homebuyers (additional requirements will apply)
  • Liquid assets cannot exceed $50,000 (accessible funds).
  • Each home & each homeowner(s) are eligible for GRIP only once in a five-year period
    • A second & final grant may be applied for after 5yrs & is eligible for up to 75% of the grant total.
  • The gross income for all persons in the household, related or non-related may not exceed the following chart:
