The Town of Greece Transfer Station is located at 635 Flynn Road and operates as a residential yard waste recycling center under a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation permit. This facility is available to Greece residents for disposal of yard waste materials from their own residential property. Material generated from commercial properties cannot be brought to the transfer station. This material is then recycled into mulch and compost and made available to Greece residents for their personal use. Mulch and compost can be picked up for FREE at this location or delivered directly to the resident for a nominal delivery fee. This service is not available to non-residents or private contractors.
The use of motorized equipment (used to load and unload debris) is prohibited. This includes the use of rented dual axle and dump body trucks and trailers. However, Greece residents can secure permission to use a personally owned dual axle or dump body truck or trailer for their Greece property by visiting the Department of Public Works located at 647 Long Pond Road and providing a copy of their license and truck/trailer registration. If approved, disposal of yard waste from their personal Greece property must be delivered on Monday’s at the Transfer Station during regular business hours.
Please Note: Tree Service contractors must obtain a Town permit to perform tree work in the Town of Greece. Please see the Tree Service Permit Application and program guidelines located on this website for more information.
Disposal Requirements:
Material dropped off at the Transfer Station must either be in paper bags or dumped loose in the identified piles. Recycling equipment can become clogged and possibly damaged by plastic bags, totes, buckets and similar items.
Permitted Material for Disposal:
- Brush, tree branches, grass clippings, leaves, sod, topsoil, concrete, and tree stumps that are reasonably free of dirt and rocks.
Prohibited Material for Disposal:
- Lumber, floor tiles, roof shingles (and other building materials), fill dirt, tree stump grindings, wood chips, landscaping bricks and rocks, electronics, garbage, household appliances and any other material determined to be unacceptable for recycling.
