- Informal Hearing
Call, email or write the Assessor’s Office to schedule a review appointment. Hearings are held annually from January to March. Complete the “Residential or Commerical Property Review Form” accessible in the links below. Submit completed RP-524 form and request a BAR hearing or paper review. File after May 1st up to (no later than) the fourth Tuesday of May. Form RP-524 is available in the link below. Claimants are notified by mail of the results of the Board of Assessment hearing. - Small Claims Court
If a claimant is dissatisfied with the BAR decision, judicial review by State Supreme Court is available by submitting form RPTL-730. This form is available on-line at www.tax.ny.gov or the Assessor’s Office and must be filed with applicable fees within 30 days of Final Roll Publication.

A change in property assessment does not necessarily mean that your taxes increase. Tax liability is affected by many factors. Changes to school, county, and fire districts, Town budgets, changes to exemptions, growth of the commercial or residential sectors, state or federal grants and municipal enterprise income are all factors in tax liability. The tax bill is the result of both the Town budget and an assessment. Town budgets determine “how much.” Assessments determine “how and where” taxes will be divided/shared.
Market data and property information are constantly being reviewed by the Assessor’s staff. This information will be used to determine the assessed value of property. Other tools such as computer models and specialized software will also assist in the valuation update process.

Who Must Obtain: No person shall engage in the business of receiving, collecting or transporting residential and/or commercial refuse or recyclable materials in the Town of Greece without first obtaining an annual license to conduct such business. License period runs from August 1 – July 31. License will be issued by the Town of Greece upon completion of the application process and the payment of fees for such license as established by the Town Board. Nothing herein contained, however, shall be construed to prevent any person from transporting for the purpose of disposal such refuse, bulky refuse, yard waste or recyclable materials as is normally generated by such person on his own premises or in his own business.

Potholes are the domain of the jurisdiction which owns the road. Policies and procedures vary by jurisdiction. State Potholes: To report a State road pothole call 1-800-pothole. County Potholes: You may call 753-7700 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Town Potholes: To report a pothole you may click on the Report a Pothole on the Department of Public Works page, complete the form, and submit. Or, you may call 225-4590, 24 hours a day, seven days a week from mid-November through the end of March.

To report a county pothole you may fill out the Report a Pothole Form on Monroe County’s website or call 753-7700 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To obtain information on filing a claim for damage from a pothole on a County road call 428-5280.”
To report a pothole you may call 225-4590, 24 hours a day, seven days a week from mid-November through the end of March, or click on the Report a Pothole icon on the Department of Public Works page. When notification is being made of a pothole, please remember to be specific about the location of the pothole. Landmarks, travel lane direction, adjacent house addresses and the like are all very helpful for our crews trying to locate and repair the pothole.
In the event a mailbox and/or post is damaged or displaced as a result of Town of Greece plowing operations, the Town will replace the damaged mailbox and/or post with a standard mailbox and wooden post at no cost to the resident. If the resident rejects the mailbox offered, the Town of Greece will reimburse the resident up to $35 upon submission of original receipt as proof of purchase. Contact the Department of Public Works at 225-4590 to report a damaged mailbox and please specify at that time if you would like the town to replace the mailbox/post with our in-stock materials or if you would instead prefer to request the up to $35 voucher to reimburse your own purchase and installation of a new mailbox/post. DPW staff will assist you with the reimbursement procedure.
